David Gauntlett- on audience as creator

Gauntlett is a writer who we use a lot in Media Studies. he is interested in the concept of "Media 2.0" which mirrors Web 2.0 with a move away from traditional hierarchical models of producer-text-consumer.  Gauntlett's focus is on audiences as collaborators and creators -- or "pro-sumers", as he describes them.  He is interested in how students have more access to tools which help them create, and how this experience is empowering.   Here's his blog .
Also of interest is David Buckingham's work on children and digital cultures, and how technologies might facilitate an informal learning space
